Thor Park in Genk is een indrukwekkend voorbeeld van stedelijke en economische transformatie. Waar vroeger de steenkoolmijn van Waterschei op volle toeren draaide, bevindt zich nu een state-of-the-art technologie- en wetenschapspark van ruim 93 hectare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De site combineert prachtig industrieel erfgoed met baanbrekende innovatie. Om bezoekers wegwijs te maken op de site en al zijn troeven, werd een signalisatie concept uitgewerkt. Startpunt van het concept is een helder overzichtskaartje, waarop de diverse gebouwen, wandelroutes, culturele en toeristische initiatieven, parkings en hoofdwegen op aangeduid zijn. Dit plan functioneert op die manier als herkenningspunt binnen de hele site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daarnaast werd voor elk gebouw een afzonderlijk sitebord opgemaakt, waar meer informatie over het erfgoed, technologische innovatie, onderneming, … beschikbaar is. Op die manier komen verleden en toekomst samen in een overzichtelijk geheel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kortom, Thor Park verbindt ook via zijn wayfinding het rijke industri\u00eble mijnverleden van Limburg naadloos met een groene, innovatieve toekomst.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
